I found this plant growing adjacent to a creek in south Texas (Jim Wells County)and I was wondering if anyone might be able to identify.

I hate doing this by just a picture of the leaf, but I believe it is Geranium rotundifolium. Or possibly G. molle. I'm referring to images and descriptions from Gleason and Cronquist Manual of Vascular Plants of the Northeastern U.S., so it doesn't really cover Texas. I say its definitely in the Geranium family. Hopefully Gary Pierce will chime in.

Looks like Geranium carolinianum, quite common in Texas: http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=geca5

I agree. If you haven't purchased the book, this plant is on pages 150/151. Field Guide to the Broad-Leaved Herbaceous Plants of South Texas (Used by Livestock and Wildlife). James Everitt, et. al. Texas Tech University Press. 1999. ISBN 0-89672-400-X. It's listed for $18.95, but maybe you can get it cheaper.
