Has anyone planning on attending the annual meeting in Australia found good deals on airfaire? Secondly, is anyone interested in a room share for the meeting?

Check out the Quantas and Air New Zealand web pages - they have deals on. I know that Quantas includes three internal flights.

As for room share, we are organising putting a dedicated Cairns forum up. When it is, I would suggest you post your message on it.
There are a lot of room configurations (sleeps 2/3/4) and some good deals on apartments that might be of interest.

I would suggest students check out the Backpackers Resort - it is not a "normal" backpackers and offers good accommodation and facilities (pool, bar, restaurant etc). A shuttle-bus runs from it into town, I think it is complementary.
